Cal men’s basketball alumnus Tyrone Wallace claimed by Minnesota Timberwolves
Cal men’s basketball alumnus Tyrone Wallace was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Timberwolves from the Los Angeles Clippers, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas announced.
Wallace, 25, was waived by the Clippers on July 6, the day after the team shook the basketball landscape by signing Kawhi Leonard and trading for Paul George.
In two seasons with Los Angeles, Wallace averaged 5.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 92 games.
Wallace had an impressive rookie year during the 2017-18 season, averaging 9.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 30 games. The guard had a reduced role with the club after re-signing last offseason, averaging 3.5 points in 10.1 minutes per game.
